Should Young People be Allowed to do
Extreme Sports?
Young people should be allowed to do extreme sports, because
they teach you how to take risks, also it will keep you motivated in school.
One reason extreme sports are
important is they help you develop risk management skills that you can use
later in life. Jammie Burr Professor of Exercise Physiology says, “Risk taking
is crucial in the development of risk management skills and the mental health
of adolescents.” This factor will help the individual prosper later in life by
letting them know if something is safe or too dangerous.
Another reason extreme sports are
important is they help students keep motivated. To prove this statement Burr
also says,” Risk free activities deprive young people of the opportunity to
test themselves while engaging in age appropriate activity (…)” Young people
need this risk and activity to keep them motivated in exceeding well in schools
and life.
On the other side of the topic some may
argue that” With extreme sports we’re not just talking about the possibility of
a broken leg or a torn ligament.(…) Massive head trauma that can cause
permanent brain damage and even death is a very real possibility .” However,
there may be many risks in extreme sports, there is also many good things that
come out of extreme sports like learning how to take risks affectively.
In conclusion extreme sports are more of
a good thing, because they will help you develop skills you can use later in
life.
