Ponyboy is more realistic when he says that Greasers have a harder life. There are a lot more socs than greasers which can be easier for them to jump other gangs. Socs get more breaks. Ponyboy says “And you can’t win against them no matter how hard you try, because they’ve got all the breaks and even whipping them isn’t going to change the fact.” That means that they do have an  easier life with more breaks.The Socs have a lot more things than Greasers do. Ponyboy says “I really couldn’t see what Socs would have to sweat about- good grades, good cars,good girls, madras and Mustangs and Corvairs- Man I thought, if I had worries like that I’d consider myself lucky.” I feel that Ponyboy is being more realistic because some have it harder than others. And in my and Ponyboy opinion they have it harder.
