Catching Fire: Defiance

Catching Fire; Defiance

In class we are reading Catching Fire and talking about their defiance’s. Defiance is a daring or bold resistance to authority or apposing force. 4 rebellions are Katniss, Peeta, Cinna and the tributes.

On page 236 in Katniss’s private session with the Gamemakers, she hung a dummy with Seneca Crane’s name on it. The old Gamemaker was killed because she out smarted him. She’s sending a message saying this could be you next. “Then I quickly stepped away to watch the Gamemakers reaction as they read the name Seneca Crane. “

On mage 240 in Petta’s private session with the Gamemakers he painted Rue’s body covered in flowers from the first game. He’s reminding Snow and the Gamemakers their responsible for her death. This is defiant because snow doesn’t want the tributes respecting each other.  “To show Snow I’m more than a toy in their games. “

On page 251 the tributes in their interviews they question the legality of the games. They say Snow could stop the games but he won’t. They are blaming Snow on live television. They are turning the citizens against Snow. “ The president could change the quell if he wants. “ But doesn’t thing it matters.

On page 251 Cinna turned the wedding dress that Snow picked out into a mockingjay. He turned the dress in to the symbol of the rebellion. The dress back fired on the capitol. Katniss wonder “What has he done. “ What has he done? “She knows President Snow will not accept it..

The worst defiant was Cinna in my opinion. He turned the wedding dress Snow himself had picked out into a mockingjay. That on the other hand is the rebellion sign. So that’s why I chose Cinna as the worst defiant.
