Ponyboy has a more realistic view on the world.  This is because on page 36, Ponyboy, “Even if they did have their own troubles, I really couldn’t see what Socs would have to sweat about-good grades, good cars, good girls, madras and Mustangs and Corvairs-Man, I thought, if I had worries like that I’d consider myself lucky.” The Socs have new things while Ponyboy and the greasers have it hard. They do not have all the new things like the Socs, such as the cars and clothes.

Another piece of evidence is on page 11, Ponyboy, “Dally had no specific thing to hate. Only Socs. And you can’t win against them no matter how hard you try, because they’ve got all the breaks and even whipping them isn’t going to change that fact. Maybe that was why Dallas was so bitter.” The Socs don’t get in trouble, it’s always the greasers that get in trouble. In the book the greasers always get jumped by the Socs and the Socs never get in trouble.

Cherry disagrees by saying on page 34, “I’ll bet you think the Socs have it made. The rich kids, the West-side Socs. I’ll tell you something, Ponyboy, and it may come to you as a surprise. WE have troubles you’ve never even heard of. You want to know something?” She looked me straight in the eye, “Things are rough all over.” However, the greasers have things worse than anything because they are broke, can’t walk alone without being jumped, cannot get that good of grades, and much more. The Socs get good grades and can walk alone, also have more money.  In conclusion Ponyboy has a more realistic view on the world.

My Dream School

The Rejects
My dream school would be called the rejects because this school will have students that have been rejected by people and or bullied. This will accept anyone never be put down. The school will be shaped like a mansion, there will be a big elegant stair well in the middle leading to the lunch room and guest bedrooms. The guest rooms will be for students that do not have a safe environment at home they can stay here. The lunch and breakfast will be free. My classrooms will have graffiti mural on each wall. The students will shake hands will teachers and adults every time entering the classroom. The teachers will let the students sing and dance during a break.

Catching Fire Essay

In the book, “Catching Fire” there are a lot of acts, of defiance are Katniss hanging a dummy. Peeta for painting Rue. The tributes for joining together. Last but not least Cinna for the dress.

In Katniss’s private session she hung a dummy with Seneca Cranes name on it. She did this because she is reminding the game makers that she out smarted them. Also it could be a threat because she caused the death of his death. Some text evidence is on page 241 “After a moment of disbelief, all the disapproval in the room hits me like a ton of bricks.” And on page 242 “I don’t know. To show them that I’m more than just a piece in their games?” these show the feelings of other and their reactions. Also Katniss knows that they are not happy with her and that they are worried.

In Peeta’s private session he painted Rue covered in flowers from the first games. He is reminding the game makers that they are responsible for Rue’s death. Also he is showing respect for another tribute which Snow does not want that. Some evidence is on page 240 “I’m not sure. I just wanted to hold them accountable, if only for a moment. For killing that little girl.”  And Katniss says “But even though it worries me, I think what he did was amazing.”  Katniss was worried but she knew that he was tired of the capitol/government killing innocent people.

At the end of the interviews, all of the tributes held hands in unity. Snow does not want the tributes to get along. He wants them to be enemies. The games won’t be fun if they get along. Some textual evidence is on page 258 “you can see the realization of this as the screens begin to pop into blackness.” And “in the confusion they didn’t cut us off in time. Everyone has seen.” The capitol is trying to hide them because everyone is coming together in an amazing way.

At the interviews Cinna turned the wedding dress that snow demanded Katniss wear into a mocking jay. The dress backfired on President Snow because it turned into a symbol of rebellion. Some evidence is on page 253 Katniss thinks, “What has he done? Something terribly dangerous. An act of defiance in itself.” She knows that Snow will not ignore this.

President Snow will fid that the tributes holding hands is the most defiant. This is because it was on public T.V. and it goes against everything snow believes in about the games.
