In the book Catching Fire, there are many characters
that commit many acts of rebellion against the government and authorities. Here
are some examples.
In her
private session, Katniss hung a dummy with Seneca Crane’s name painted on it.
It be a threat to the new Head Gamemaker because she was responsible for the
death on the last one. On page 241, Katniss said, “I guess this is a bad time
to mention I hung a dummy and painted Seneca Crane’s name on it.”
In his
interview, Peeta tells everyone that he and Katniss are married and she is
pregnant. The people of the Capitol are outraged and want the games to be
stopped or chaged. On pages 254-257, Peeta tells the whole capitol, “We’re
already married” and “if it wasn’t for the baby.” The citizens don’t want
Katniss and Peeta to go into the games.
At the
end of the interviews, all of the tributes held hands in unity. President Snow
does not want the tributes to get along, he wants them to be enemies or the
quell won’t be a good fight. On pages 257-258, the tributes hold hands. “All
twenty four of us stand in one unbroken line.” The tributes are supposed to
hate each other.
Cinna
(Katniss’ stylist) turns the wedding dress that Snow approved into a mocking
jay. The mocking jay is a symol of Katniss and Peeta’s love as well as
rebellion. On page 253, Katniss thinks, “What has he done? Something terribly
dangerous. An act of defiance in itself.” She knows that Snow will never
overlook this.
I
think President Snow would think that Cinna is the most defiant because he
punished him very harshly.
