Catching Fire: Defying the Capitol

In the book, Catching Fire there were a lot of acts of defiance. I’m here to tell you what they were and who did them. So continue reading if you’d like to know.

On page 238 Katniss said “Now I have Plutarch Heavensbee’s attention. He stares steadily at me as the juice from the peach he crushed in his hand runs through his fingers.” He was mad after seeing her hang a dummy and finger paint Seneca Cranes name on the dummy.

On page 240 Peeta said he painted a picture of Rue “How she looked after Katniss covered her in flowers.” He defied the capitol because they basically killed Rue, and he brought it up.

The tributes talk badly about snow during their interview. “Beetee questions the legality of the Quell in his nervous, twitchy way.” All kinds of people have something to say about it.

On page 253, Katniss thinks “what has he done? Something terribly dangerous. An act of rebellion in itself.” Katniss is worried because he is promoting the rebellion on national television.

What Katniss did was the most defiant and President Snow already doesn’t like her so she made him even madder for that.
