Catching Fire!
This essay
will be about the book catching fire. And how we see many acts take part in defiance
or rebellious different people in the book.
On page 236-237 what katniss did for her private session is
she hung a dummy with Seneca Crane’s name on it. Thia act is labeled with defiance
or rebellious because she is reminding the Game Makers of what happened last
time and how she beat the games, showing the game makers that she caused Seneca’s
death. Something that supports this from the book is on page 238 it says, “The
effect on the game makers is immediate and satisfying. Several let out small shrieks.
Other losing their grips on their wineglasses, which shatter musically against the
ground.”
On page 240 something Peeta did for his private session is he
painted a picture of Rue’s body covered in flowers. This act is labeled with defiance
the tributes are not supposed to care about each other. He is showing the game
makers that they are responsible for her death. Text evidence from the book is
on page 240 it says, “I painted a picture of Rue, “Peeta says, “How she looked
after katniss had covered her in flowers.”
For the tributes during their interviews they talked badly
about President Snow. He could change the rules but he chooses not to. He doesn’t
really care. This act makes it defiance or rebellious because they are trying
To turn the capital citizens against Snow. Text evidence from
the book is on page 251 it says, “The audience has been weeping and collapsing
and even calling for a change.”
For Cinna what he did was he turned the wedding dress that
snow approved into a mocking jay. This is
an act of defiance or rebellious because the mocking jay is the symbol of
rebellion. Text evidence that proves this from the book is on page 253 it says,
“Katniss thinks, “What has he done? Something terribly dangerous. “An act of
rebellion in itself. “Katniss is worried because he is promoting the rebellion
on national television.
In conclusion, now that I explained the acts of defiance of
what happened in catching fire, the act I think president snow would feel is
what the tributes did because they held hands together and they are trying to
make a change.
