      I think that the “greasers” have it the worst, only because they have to struggle to make ends meet, kids have to take care of their siblings and make sure they have the essentials they need, have to continue and look behind their back to make sure the “socs” are not behind them to beat them. Also they don’t put themselves in positions were they have to scrabble around just to make ends meet, or to get somewhere and your just walking and a “soc” comes up from behind them and beats them bloody. The ‘’greasers” get called hoodlums, scary, thieves, greasers, While the “socs” get called rich kids, west side rich kids. The “greasers” have to scrabble to get food, some have to steal to get food or the essentials they need but the “socs” they have fancy cars, buys the food they want, nice things, and more things they need so they don’t need to want anything. Ponyboy says “Dally had no specific thing to hate. Only socs. And you can’t win against them no matter how hard you try, because they’ve got all the breaks and even whipping them isn’t going to change that fact. Maybe that was why Dallas was so bitter” but I also think that after the brawl in the rain and everyone was covered in the mud from socs to greasers they realized that they were all equal in a way.
