Extreme Sports
Young
people should not be allowed to do extreme sports. It’s hard to find good
equipment for extreme sports and there is high risks every year.
Special
equipment is not made for extreme sports. Vani Sabesan, M.D. associate professor,
Wayne State University school of Medicine, Michigan, says, “With extreme sports
we’re not just talking about the possibility of a broken leg or a torn ligament….
The most advanced protective equipment can’t prevent injuries.” People who
decide to do an extreme sport don’t always know the risks that they’re getting
into. A broken leg can mean so much without them knowing it. If special
equipment can’t prevent injuries that extreme sports put them than people can
die without expecting it.
Another
reason is that extreme sports lead to more injuries each year. Sabesan also
says, “More than 4 million such injuries occurred between 2000 and 2011; 40,000
of those were head and neck injuries, which can be very serious and lead to
life-long disabilities…. It’s not just a matter of maturity; it’s a matter of
brain development.” Many injuries can come if we don’t put an end to extreme
sports. Possibly more or even worse fatal injuries can occur due to how extreme
these sports are starting to get. Although we want to do what others do we have
to think with our brains about the safety of our lives.
Jamie
Burr, Professor of exercise Physiology University of Prince Edward Island
Canada, argues, “It’s the opportunity to escape boredom, test abilities,
overcome fears and achieve goals that motivate most adventure sport athletes,
and teens are no different.” However, possible death injuries can occur during
the process of it.
Extreme
sports should not be allowed for kids because special equipment cannot prevent
hazardous injuries and we are trying to lower the number of injuries each year.
