Cherry is right because she believes that things are rough everywhere instead of just for the Greasers  

Socs-   If they don’t get like student body president their parents might punish them or if they don’t get good grades they could get their cars taken away.

Greasers- They have to work to pay their bills instead of their parents. They have to take care of themselves because their parents don’t care about them.
