Catching Fire: Defying the Capitol

In the book Catching Fire Katniss and the tributes are being defiant. They are all doing bad things to make snow mad.

In Katniss’s private session she hung a dummy with Seneca’s Cranes name on it. She is reminding the gamemakers that she outsmarted them. She could be threatening them. She thinks she caused Seneca’s execution.” Now I have Plutarch’s Heavens bee attention. He will remember this.

Peeta during his private session painted a picture of Rue. Peeta is reminding the gamemakers that they are responsible. On page 240 Peeta says “I just wanted to hold them accountable “. Snow killed Rue for making The Hunger Games.

At the end of the interviews all of the tributes held hands in unity. Snow does not want the tributes to get along. He wants to be enemies. On page 258 the tributes “Up and down, begin to hold hands”. Snow does not want them to be allies he wants them to be enemies.

During the interviews Cinna turned the wedding dress that Snow demanded she wear, into a mocking jay. Her dress back fired on President Snow. On page 253 Katniss thinks “What has he done? Something terribly dangerous. An act of defiance in its felt. She knows Snow will not ignore this.

Snow probably did not like when the tributes held hands. Snow wants them to be enemies not allies.
